Ryan and Allee were staying at Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort on the Cancun side of Mexico and made the easy trip over to Isla Mujeres for their proposal session. And on this particular day… “Wave Point” absolutely lived up to its name.

The surf was crashing hard against the rocks, sending water flying into the air and creating some seriously epic moments. The wind, waves, and blue skies added so much energy to the session and perfectly matched Ryan and Allee’s personalities.

I photographed the proposal discreetly from a distance so Allee had no idea I was there. As they walked out to the proposal spot, Ryan twirled Allee around several times before dropping down onto one knee at the perfect moment.

Allee’s reaction was absolutely priceless — complete shock, laughter, excitement, happy tears, and overwhelming joy all at once. These two have the kind of connection that instantly makes everyone around them smile. Their energy together is contagious. They laugh constantly, dance constantly, and truly seem like the happiest couple in the world. The phrase “dance like nobody’s watching” could not describe them more perfectly.

After Allee said YES, I walked up and introduced myself, telling her that her new fiancé had hired me to secretly photograph the proposal and that we were now heading into their engagement session around the seawalks and cliffs of Punta Sur.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with nonstop laughter, dancing, windblown hair, crashing waves, and the kind of genuine joy that makes sessions unforgettable. Sometimes the waves splashed them unexpectedly, but instead of worrying about it, they laughed through every second and embraced the adventure together.
