A Magical Marriage Proposal at Punta Sur, Isla Mujeres: Chris + Allyson
Photographing a surprise marriage proposal is always a heartwarming experience, but when the couple is as sweet and joyful as Chris and Allyson, it becomes something truly unforgettable. Chris reached out to me with a vision: he wanted to propose to Allyson while they were vacationing on Isla Mujeres, and he wanted it to be a complete surprise. It’s moments like these—filled with love and anticipation—that make my job as a photographer so rewarding.
Chris had carefully planned every detail, wanting to create a perfect moment for Allyson. He chose Wave Point, a breathtaking spot on the southern tip of Isla Mujeres and my favorite spot at the dramatic cliffs of Punta Sur. With the sparkling blue sea crashing below and the vast sky stretching above, Wave Point offered the kind of natural beauty that would make any proposal feel magical. I could feel Chris’ excitement when we discussed the plan, and he assured me that everything would be perfectly orchestrated. The only thing missing was Allyson’s knowledge of the plan—she had no idea what was coming.
On the day of the proposal, I arrived early to set up at Punta Sur, keeping my eye on the horizon to track the couple’s arrival. The wind was stronger than usual that day, and the gusts were sweeping across the island, adding an extra element of drama to the already breathtaking scene. The air was alive with energy, and I knew this would be the perfect setting to capture their love story. We wandered around Wave Point, taking portraits with the stunning backdrop of the sea and sky.
