Mirelys and Amary’s Dreamy Maternity Session at Punta Sur, Isla Mujeres

There are photo sessions that stick with you—not just for the beauty of the location or the magic of the light, but for the deep connection shared by the people in front of your lens. Mirelys and Amary’s maternity shoot on Isla Mujeres was exactly that kind of unforgettable experience.

The session took place at Punta Sur, the southernmost point of Isla Mujeres and one of the most breathtaking spots in the entire Caribbean. Punta Sur isn’t just known for its dramatic cliffs and panoramic ocean views—it’s also home to a sculpture of the Mayan goddess Ixchel, the deity of fertility, love, and the moon. Standing before her monument, Mirelys and Amary couldn’t have picked a more spiritually resonant place to celebrate the upcoming arrival of their baby. Ixchel’s symbolism felt like a divine nod to the powerful journey of motherhood these two beautiful souls are embarking on.

Mirelys and Amary were staying at Impression Isla Mujeres by Secrets, one of the island’s most luxurious and serene resorts. Tucked away in a secluded paradise, the resort offers top-tier service, stunning views, and an intimate atmosphere—absolutely perfect for a babymoon. For those unfamiliar with the term, a babymoon is like a honeymoon, but for expectant parents. It’s a chance to connect, reflect, and savor the peaceful moments before life changes in the most beautiful way. For Mirelys and Amary, this wasn’t just a vacation—it was a celebration of love, life, and new beginnings.

One of the most touching parts of this experience for me personally was hearing how they chose me as their photographer. They told me they had spent countless hours scouring the internet, combing through images from all over the Caribbean. When they came across my work, they told me it stood out. My imagery was the deciding factor in choosing Isla Mujeres as the destination for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. I was incredibly honored—truly, deeply moved—to know that the way I see and capture the world played a role in such an important chapter of their lives.

We planned the session around sunset, and as nature often does, it gave us a show—just not the one people always expect. There wasn’t the classic golden orb dipping into the horizon. Instead, we got something even more special: a moody, dramatic sky filled with layers of color and emotion. The clouds danced with light in a way that added depth and dimension to every photo. And this is something I love sharing with clients—you don’t need a bright ball of sun to get epic sunset photos. Sometimes, the most powerful images come from a sky full of mood and mystery. This day was proof of that.

Mirelys and Amary brought so much warmth, love, and authenticity to the session. Their joy was radiant, their connection palpable. With Punta Sur’s raw beauty as our backdrop, the presence of the goddess Ixchel watching over us, and the quiet power of the sea and sky surrounding us, everything aligned for a truly unforgettable experience.

Capturing Mirelys and Amary on this journey—just the two of them before becoming three—was a true privilege. It was more than a photo session; it was a celebration of love, heritage, femininity, and new life. I’m so grateful to have been a part of their story.
