Coco B Family Portrait Session, Isla Mujeres

When an extended family gathers for a vacation, it’s the perfect opportunity to create lasting memories—and what better place to do that than Isla Mujeres? I had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful family at the luxury vila they were renting, Coco B, and the session was filled with laughter, connection, and plenty of heartwarming moments.

Coco B, with its lush landscaping and breathtaking views over the Caribbean Sea, provided the ideal setting for this family’s late afternoon photo session. As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, the warm, golden light added a magical glow to the scene, creating a relaxed and intimate atmosphere for capturing family memories. The spacious outdoor areas offered endless opportunities for incredible photographs.

My approach to family sessions is to capture the full spectrum of relationships within the family. We started with the nucleus family—mom, dad, and kids—capturing their special bond in a few cozy and intimate moments. From there, we expanded to include the extended family, making sure to capture everyone together as well as in smaller groupings. One of my favorite parts of extended family sessions is capturing grandparents with their grandkids. These moments are filled with so much warmth and affection that are pure joy to photograph.

Of course, I also love to take individual shots of each family member and siblings together. Whether it’s the parents sharing a quiet moment together or the kids just being kids, it’s important to me to document the unique personality of each individual while also preserving the connections between them.

It was an honor to capture this beautiful family at such a special time and place. These memories, made at Coco B on Isla Mujeres, will be cherished for years to come.
