I’m Susan Pacek, a professional photographer who has been photographing families, couples, and weddings since 2005. Originally from Colorado, I’ve called Isla Mujeres home since 2011 and have had the privilege of documenting families from around the world as they celebrate vacations, reunions, milestones, and meaningful time together on the island.
My approach is relaxed, patient, and connection-focused. Whether your session includes little ones running through the sand or several generations gathered together, I gently guide the experience while allowing genuine moments to naturally unfold.

Whether you’re drawn to the turquoise water and soft sand of the beach, the colorful charm of Centro, or the dramatic coastline views of Punta Sur, each location creates a completely different feel for your images.
Below are the three primary settings available for family sessions on Isla Mujeres.
Beach Sessions
There’s something timeless about family photographs on the beach — barefoot in the sand, turquoise water in the background, and the relaxed atmosphere that naturally comes with being on Isla Mujeres.
Beach sessions are perfect for families wanting imagery that feels relaxed, joyful, and connected. The natural beauty of the island creates a stunning backdrop while still allowing the focus to remain on your family and the moments you share together.
Colorful Centro Sessions
For families wanting imagery that truly reflects the charm and personality of Isla Mujeres, Centro offers a vibrant and uniquely island-inspired backdrop. Colorful buildings, murals, textured streets, and historic architecture create a fun and visually rich setting that feels full of life and character.
These sessions are perfect for families looking for something a little different than the beach while still capturing the relaxed spirit of the island. The variety of colors and scenery throughout Centro also creates a beautiful mix of both candid moments and more polished family portraits.
Punta Sur Sessions
Located on the southernmost point of Isla Mujeres, Punta Sur offers some of the most dramatic scenery on the island with rocky cliffs, sweeping ocean views, and stunning turquoise water in every direction.
These sessions have a more adventurous feel and are perfect for families wanting something beyond the traditional beach backdrop. The combination of coastline views, natural textures, and open ocean creates incredibly striking and memorable imagery.
Please note that Punta Sur is generally best suited for older children, teens, and adults, as some walking over uneven surfaces and stairs is required. Participants should have good mobility for this location.

MORNING COLLECTION
These 1 hour sessions take place approximately 1 hour after sunrise, when the shops are still closed and most tourists are still sleeping.
Sessions are centered in the colorful and historic streets of Centro, with the option to also incorporate a few beach images nearby.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should we wear?
I always recommend light, breathable clothing in neutral or soft complementary tones that photograph beautifully against the natural colors of Isla Mujeres. Flowy fabrics and comfortable outfits tend to work especially well. Once your session is booked, I’m happy to provide additional guidance.
What if my children don’t cooperate?
Please don’t stress about perfection. Some of the most meaningful images come from candid interaction and simply allowing kids to be themselves. Sessions are designed to feel relaxed and flexible rather than overly posed.
How long does it take to receive our images?
Your professionally edited images will be delivered via digital download within approximately 3-4 weeks of your session.
How do we reserve a date?
A signed contract and retainer are required in order to officially reserve your session date. Because I only book a limited number of sessions, and only one per day, advance booking is highly recommended, especially during busy travel seasons.
