Clayton thoughtfully chose the iconic Wave Point at Punta Sur, one of the most breathtaking and symbolic locations on the island. With waves crashing dramatically against the rocky shoreline and endless Caribbean blues stretching into the horizon, it was the perfect setting for such a meaningful question. Clayton had visited Isla Mujeres once before with family and friends, but this trip was extra special—it was Allie’s very first time on the island.
The couple was staying at the beautiful Privilege Aluxes, enjoying the relaxed luxury and romance that Isla Mujeres is known for. On the day of the proposal, Clayton led Allie to Punta Sur, where I was carefully hiding in the distance, camera ready, capturing every second of the anticipation, excitement, and raw emotion as it unfolded.
When Clayton dropped to one knee, Allie’s reaction said it all—pure joy, surprise, and happiness. She was absolutely thrilled, and Clayton was completely overjoyed. These are the moments I love most as a photographer: genuine emotion, real connection, and love you can feel through the images.
After the excitement of the “YES,” I finally introduced myself to Allie and shared the big secret—that her new fiancé had hired me to capture the I-DO moment and that we were now heading into their engagement photo session. Her smile said everything.
