She Had No Idea: A Surprise Proposal at Punta Sur, Isla Mujeres | Jared + Katie

Jared had been away for months working on a sport fishing boat, with his home base on Isla Mujeres. When Katie came down to visit, she thought it was simply a long-awaited reunion… not realizing this trip would mark the beginning of their forever. Jared reached out to me ahead of time with a clear vision. He wanted something meaningful, intimate, and completely unexpected. He chose Punta Sur, specifically my favorite hidden gem I lovingly call “wave point,” where the crashing ocean and rugged cliffs create one of the most breathtaking backdrops on the island.
The plan? I would casually “run into them” as a budding photographer building my portfolio and ask if they’d be willing to model for a quick 15-minute session. Katie happily agreed, completely unaware of what was about to unfold.
When we arrived at wave point, the setting was absolute perfection—soft ocean breeze, waves crashing dramatically against the rocks, and golden sunlight wrapping everything in a romantic glow. I started with a simple pose, asking them to look toward me. Then I had them stand back to back… Jared’s cue.
