Punta Sur Proposal and Engagement Session on Isla Mujeres | Sheldon + Jennah

Sheldon and Jennah almost didn’t meet, but the universe had something else planned for this couple. When they did though, they knew there was something special about the other person…something that was familiar, something that they never felt before.

Fast forward two and a half years to a day when I received an email from Sheldon saying he wanted to propose to Jennah while they were visiting Mexico on vacation. He found photos of Punta Sur and knew that this was the place he wanted to ask Jennah the big question. Not only was it a beautiful setting, but Jennah had been to the island before with her family and had many happy memories from that trip.

When I found out that they were staying at the Grand Sunset Princess in Playa del Carmen, I recommended he consider staying overnight on the island as the trip would take about 2 hours to get to the island from there. Sheldon thought that would be a great idea and booked the Hotel Posada del Mar.

I always keep an eye on the forecast and the day of our session was not looking good so I suggested we move it out a day. The hotel was happy to change their reservation.

Sheldon decided that the specific spot at Punta Sur where he wanted to propose as the Lookout Balcony. I gave Sheldon detailed step-by-step instructions that covered all the details he needed from when to leave his hotel and how to get to the spot where he was to propose as he’d never been to the island before.

When the day finally arrived, the sky was threatening, but there was no rain forecasted. I actually love this type of sky…so ominous, so beautiful! Perfect for a proposal!

I asked Sheldon how he was feeling leading up to the moment he proposed. He shared that he was very nervous but happy at the same time and went on to say that “it’s a surreal feeling that is hard to explain, almost euphoric”.

After Jennah said I DO and the excitement of the moment was winding down a bit, I introduced myself and told her that her “fiance” hired me to capture this incredible milestone in their relationship and now we were going to take their engagement photos! I love this moment….just the two of them and me…it’s such a special honor to be there when a couple is first engaged!!!

We walked around the cliffs of Punta Sur taking photos and chatting about their love story.

When I asked Jennah how she felt right after Sheldon proposed, she said it was a full rush of emotions and that she felt ecstatic. She went on to share “It’s crazy to think of how fast everything is going through your mind when such an event happens. It’s one of my happiness moments to date, which only makes me more excited for our special day”.
