Surprise Proposal and Engagement Session at Punta Sur, Isla Mujeres | Greg + Nikola

Greg and Nikola met in college at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and have been together for eight years. When I asked Greg when he knew Nikola was the girl for him, he said “it was a build up of so many meaningful moments together that naturally led me to a point where spending the rest of my life with Nikola was the most obvious and easy choice I have ever made. I cannot picture my life without her.”

Greg’s internet search for the perfect proposal location lead him to my website and when he saw the photos of Punta Sur, he was sold! Greg shared that “Punta Sur has such beautiful, scenic locations, but it is not too crowded. I also wanted to make the proposal a surprise, and visiting Punta Sur would be a fun activity whether or not I was planning a proposal ... so I was able to keep the secret safe for a longer period of time.”

I also asked Greg how he felt leading up to the proposal and he shared that “I felt like I had been waiting so long and was relieved to finally get to ask Nikola to marry me. I'm not a very good liar/actor and I am especially bad at deceiving Nikola, so I was relieved that I could stop keeping the proposal a secret! I was not nervous for what I was going to say or how she would respond, just relieved that I could come clean and give her the ring.” How cute is that, right?

After the proposal, I asked Nikola how she felt and she responded with “Amazing! To be honest I started suspecting that today might be the day when Greg asked me what outfit he should wear because he wanted to take a picture ... that's not something he would typically say, so I had a hunch he might be planning something. It also seemed like he knew exactly where he was going in Punta Sur despite never having been there before. Like he said, he is not the best actor but I was thrilled when he proposed and so happy to call him my husband!”
