LGBTQ+ Couple’s Photo Session on Isla Mujeres: Capturing the Heart of What Makes the Island Unique
Isla Mujeres, with its vibrant streets and laid-back vibe, is the perfect backdrop for a love story. Recently, I had the privilege of photographing Danielle and Suzy, a fabulous couple while they were visiting the island on their vacation. Our session took place early in the morning, just before the streets filled with tourists and the shops began to open.
We began the session in the heart of Isla Mujeres, walking through the charming streets of Centro. The town was still quiet, offering a rare opportunity to explore without the usual crowds. I didn’t have a specific plan for our session on where to go except to follow what they had requested - to do a session showcasing the real Isla flair. We meandered around, taking photos here and there, stopping at murals and colorful buildings. We then walked down to the waters edge and captured a few images on the pier and among the historic fishing boats that are still used to this day.
We then jumped in my golf cart and made our way to the iconic Isla Mujeres statue of the whale fish and then further south to the colorful stairs.
It was a great session and I think I had as much fun as they did! Photographing LGBTQ+ couples is always an honor, and when they love the unique character of the Isla Mujeres as much as I do it makes the experience even that much more meaningful.
