Villa Encantada Family Photo Session, Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres is a stunning location for family photos, and an extended family session on its beautiful beaches creates an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, a family reunion, or simply capturing a moment in time, photographing extended families allows me to tell a richer, more detailed story of the connections that bind them together. And with the backdrop of crystal-clear waters and soft sand, the scenery is the perfect complement to the love and laughter shared by everyone.
This amazing family chose to rent a villa so they could spend quality time together, and they picked the beautiful Villa Encantada from the Coco B Collection. This luxury vacation home is one of my favorites on Isla Mujeres, offering a private beach that families can enjoy in complete serenity. It was the perfect setting for their unforgettable family photo session.
During these sessions, I love working with different groupings to capture both traditional and candid moments. Of course, we start with the classic "mantle photo"—the one everyone envisions when they think of family portraits. This is the shot where the entire extended family gathers together, looking polished and composed. It’s timeless, and it’s the photo that often ends up framed and proudly displayed at home. For this shot, I make sure everyone is well-positioned, relaxed, and smiling to create that classic family portrait that will stand the test of time.
After capturing the more formal shots, we dive into the fun! Photographing the nucleus family (mom, dad, and kids), siblings, or grandparents with grandkids allows for more relaxed moments. I love seeing how families interact when they feel comfortable, whether it’s playful tickles, laughter, or quiet moments of connection. These candid images are often my favorites—more spontaneous, less posed, and filled with genuine emotion.
