Casa de los Suenos Wedding: Daniella + Sam

Photographing Daniella and Sam’s destination wedding on Isla Mujeres was nothing short of a dream. Set against the vibrant and breathtaking backdrop of the island, their celebration was a blend of emotion, color, tradition, and unfiltered joy. From the lively hues of Casa de Los Sueños to the vistas of the Caribbean Sea from Kin Ha Beach Club, every frame of this destination wedding told a story—and I had the honor of capturing it all.

Casa de Los Sueños, nestled on the southern tip of Isla Mujeres, was the perfect place to begin the day. Its walls are a painter’s palette—sunset oranges, rich turquoises, and cheerful yellows—accentuated by striking Mexican tile work, arched doorways, and sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea. The architecture is a photographer’s dream: charming nooks, elegant staircases, and intricate ironwork create endless opportunities for framing moments both big and small.

One of my favorite parts of any wedding day is the quiet, intimate time during the “getting ready” process. For Daniella and Sam, this time was especially meaningful. I opted to shoot many of these moments in black and white—there’s something timeless and honest about stripping away the color. Without the distraction of hues, you feel the anticipation in a glance, the emotion in a handhold, the calm before the storm. It’s a classic approach that highlights mood and story over scenery.

Before the ceremony, Daniella and Sam shared a deeply personal first look in a secluded courtyard at the villa. Emotions ran high as they saw each other for the first time that day, away from the crowd. They took a few quiet minutes to exchange private vows they had written, just the two of them and the sound of rustling palm trees. These moments felt sacred, and photographing them felt like being let in on a beautiful secret.

We then traveled to Punta Sur for a pre-ceremony couple’s session. Punta Sur is the highest point on the Yucatán Peninsula and offers dramatic cliffs, a windswept coastline, and a Mayan goddess temple that makes you feel like you’re on the edge of the world. Daniella’s dress was stunning and timeless!

The ceremony itself took place at Kin Ha Beach Club, with the ocean as their altar. The celebration continued into a cocktail hour made even more lively by a mariachi band that had guests swaying and singing along. The joy was infectious. The golden hour light, the music, and the ocean breeze created the perfect cocktail of festivity and romance.

Dinner was followed by some of the most heartfelt and hilarious toasts I’ve ever heard and the looks on the couple’s faces were priceless.

Once the dance floor opened, it never stopped. Guests truly let loose, fueled by tequila and love, and the night closed with a final photo of the remaining die-hards—sweaty, barefoot, and glowing with happiness.

Behind the scenes, none of this would’ve been as seamless without the incredible work of Lissette Vélez from Making Weddings Cancun. She orchestrated every detail with grace and precision, allowing the couple and their guests to stay in the moment.

As they danced into the night and wrapped up their celebration, Daniella and Sam looked ahead to their honeymoon at the luxurious Mayakoba Resort in Cancun—a well-deserved escape to cap off a magical wedding week.

Weddings like this remind me why I do what I do. It’s not just about beautiful pictures—it’s about immortalizing joy, connection, and the beginning of a shared adventure.
