Capturing Love on Isla Mujeres: Juli and Kristen’s Island Tour Session
Isla Mujeres, with its vibrant colors, rich history, and stunning natural beauty, provides the perfect backdrop for capturing intimate moments. I recently had the honor of photographing Juli and Kristen, an LGBTQ+ couple who have been visiting the island for many years. Their deep connection to Isla Mujeres was clear in the way they moved through the island, as though it were a second home. From the dramatic cliffs of Punta Sur to the charming streets lined with colorful buildings, historic fishing boats, and the tranquil beach at sunset, every stop on this island tour told a unique part of their love story. The day was overcast, adding a layer of moodiness and drama that enhanced the emotional depth of the images.
Our day began at Punta Sur, the southernmost point of the island. Known for its breathtaking cliffs and sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea, Punta Sur was the perfect spot to start the session. The couple, who had spent many visits here over the years, seemed at ease in this familiar, special place. Their hands intertwined and smiles shared, the overcast sky created a soft, diffused light that highlighted the intimacy of the moment. Without the harshness of direct sunlight, the natural light was gentle and flattering, emphasizing the raw emotion and tenderness between them.
From Punta Sur, we continued our tour through Isla Mujeres, capturing photos with some of the island’s iconic, colorful buildings. These vibrant structures are not only a beautiful testament to the island’s charm but also a wonderful contrast to the couple’s soft, intimate moments. One of my favorite parts of the session was when we took photos with the traditional fishing boats.
